BCBP fathers, especially those within the Greater Metro Manila area are encouraged to attend this “first for Filipino fathers” seminar on June 25, 2010, from 7:00 – 10:00 pm. Venue is LayForce, San Carlos Seminary, Guadalupe, Makati.

Fr. Ted Gonzales, S.J., Program Director of the Center for Family Ministries (CeFam) tackles the concerns of fathers and fatherhood through a process he calls ‘the 5D’s towards empowered fatherhood’, leading participants to a deeper appreciation of what it means to be a father, reconciling the strengths as well as the “shadows” on one’s parenting style.

BCBP President Larry Veloso, BCBP Cebu, and past president Bobby Lavina, BCBP Greenhills, endorse this program and urge BCBP fathers to take advantage of this rare opportunity for fathers as a way of celebrating Father’s Day in this month of June. Program details follow.

In time for Fathers’ Day, Solidarity Resource Center is organizing a one-evening seminar exclusively for fathers:

HOW TO BE A GREAT FATHER TO YOUR KIDS
EVEN THOUGH YOU’RE BUSY

June 25, 2010, (7:00-10:00 P.M.)
LayForce, San Carlos Seminary
Guadalupe, Makati .

Resource Speaker: Fr. Ted Gonzales, S.J.
Program Director, Center for Family Ministries (CeFam Ateneo)

To be a great father in the eyes of his children is, perhaps, the greatest accomplishment a man can achieve in his lifetime.

Yet, while training is considered imperative to grow in one’s career, there is hardly any training on how to be a great and effective parent. It’s more of a trial and error — with consequences on a whole generation.

Fr. Ted Gonzales, .S. J., renowned authority on family life and best-selling author, tackles this issue by using a process that brings about appreciative self-awareness. Calling it the 5D’s towards empowered fatherhood, Fr. Ted leads the participants to a deeper appreciation of what it means to be a father, reconciling the strengths as well as the “shadows” that are brought into one’s parenting style, and inspires greater determination in men to be servant- leaders of their “tribe.”

A program for fathers is very rare, especially one that is Philippine-based. Fr. Ted Gonzales’ program for Filipino fathers serves as a much-needed respite from the daily grind of life. Like an oasis, it refreshes the spirit and rejuvenates a man’s sense of purpose and calling as head of the family. Being an all-men gathering, the seminar is in itself a valuable opportunity for men to bond with other fathers and learn from one another. Indeed, it is a gathering of men for the REAL cause.

Seminar fee is only P200.– For tickets, contact tel.647-7807/0919-951-9536 or email at solidarity2000@gmail.com.
