A Man After God’s Heart
A tribute to Larry Veloso by Sister Chato Dejaresco Araneta, BCBP Cebu Northeast
Larry – a Man after God’s heart whose very life was prayer itself.
A rare breed indeed, he asked God to disturb him; small wonder he embraced cancer as a gift, a blessing which he joyfully offered to His Maker for others for whom he ardently prayed would return beck to God. He did not even allow his infirmity to end his service to God and the BCBP community.
Larry is the epitome of Redemptive Suffering made real. In the several sharings he made, I cannot remember Larry asking the Lord to heal him; it was always his devotion to God’s Will, his single-mindedness in allowing God’s Will and perfect plan to happen in his life that mattered most to him. In the midst of his sickness, he faithfully discerned what God wanted of him and this gave him peace in his decisions.
Larry, for the gift that you are and for what we are trying to become because of your inspiration, I give praise to God and heartily say – you have not lived in vain…nor have you died in vain. You are even now larger in death! Death has no power over you as I proclaim God’s Word;
“Oh death, where is thy sting? Oh grave, where is thy victory?”
(1 Cor 15:55)
Godspeed, Larry. You have indeed “fought the good fight, you have finished the race, you have kept the faith. Now there is in store for you the crown of righteousness.”
