BCBP Cagayan de Oro City West Chapter Supports Earth Hour 2018

by Lilibeth D. Tigulo, BCBP CDO West

EH#Connect2Earth. This year’s hash tag strongly articulated the call for everyone to be aware and take action for a sustainable Mother Earth. Earth Hour 2018 theme: “Let Nature Shine” moves us to respond collectively as we help adopt a sustainable lifestyle to protect biodiversity across the planet. Various bike groups and concerned organizations, families, among others participated in the Earth Hour Night Ride and Night Walk 2018 conducted by Habagat Philippines last March 24, 2018 at Centrio Ayala Mall, Cagayan de Oro City.

BCBP CDO West Chapter participated with great enthusiasm from the start up to the end. The Chapter supported this global movement for three (3) consecutive years already. The chapter recognized the importance of raising awareness on climate action in relation to Pope Francis “Laudato Si” Encyclical (On Care for Our Common Home) which cited his powerful message on our moral responsibility to care for creation.

In return, the participants pledge to involve themselves to help strengthen awareness on biodiversity and climate action and be pro-active in the information drive. Everyone committed to work towards the goal of maintaining ecological balance by practicing solid waste management at home and at work or school, adapting a low carbon life, not using plastic products, among others.
