The BCBP Calamba West Chapter marked its third year anniversary last June 24, 2017, with a masquerade-themed celebration at the Sta. Elena Golf Club.
The clubhouse ballroom was filled with chapter members, their families, and guests, who were all dressed in suits and gowns, complete with colorful masks. The event started with a Holy Mass, to thank and praise God for all the blessings He has given the chapter for the past 3 years.
Bro. Serge delaFuente, BCBP National Managing Director, congratulated Calamba West members and recalled the time he and his wife Paching shared their life testimony at The Mills Country Club, when Calamba West was still considered a mission.
“I have witnessed how God has blessed your chapter, and I pray that God would continue to make you His instruments in evangelizing the marketplace in Canlubang,” he said.
Bro. Rene Medrocillo, the Regional Council Director for Southern Tagalog Region 1 (STR-1), commended Calamba West for leading in dedication and innovation.
He mentioned Calamba West’s trailblazing performance of having 100-percent tithing since October 2016 up to the present (or for eight consecutive months already). He said this accomplishment is now being looked up to by other chapters as a very good example of members’ commitment.
According to Bro. Rene, the said 100-percent tithing performance has inspired many chapters already. And as a result, two other chapters in STR-1 — Biñan and Calamba chapters — have also started to achieve 100% tithes.
The feat of Calamba West became all the more known when BCBP National President Joey Avellana requested Chapter Head Bro. Edgar Ramilo to share chapter’s experience in the last National Annual Conventon (NAC37) at Cagayan de Oro.
Bro Rene also commended Calamba West for its various pioneering initiatives of evangelization and spreading the word of God to the marketplace. He also congratulated the chapter for its many best practices.
Bro. Rene likewise mentioned that the “100 percent tithing” performance is just an indicator of the chapter’s commitment and dedication. It is also an indicator of the good attitudes and the good practices of the chapter. When these good attitudes and good practices were combined together, it resulted to the chapter achieving 100% tithes.
Bro. Angel Sabas, a member of the BCBP Management Committee and a part of Calamba West chapter, sent a video message from Singapore, wherein he said, “Calamba West Chapter, though young as it may be, is not just an ordinary regular chapter, but already one of the ‘above average’ performing chapters in BCBP ..
He also said, “Calamba West always strives to be at the forefront in following ALL of the directions of national.. It’s like a pilot chapter, in a pilot region. I like to acknowledge this “Can Do” attitude of Calamba West. The chapter is also a very good example and model for Submission to Authority. As for the leaders, I have observed that they are creative in nature, always looking at ways to evangelize and do our mission works.”
Chapter Head Bro. Edgar Ramilo congratulated all members for their 3rd anniversary as a chapter. He said that he has observed many positive attitudes and traits that their members have developed over the past 3 years, .
Bro Edgar further said, “These positive attitudes, have contributed much in our chapter’s growth, from a newly installed chapter back in June 2014, to one of the many active chapters in the region today. One of these positive attitudes is the courage to do things that have never been done before, in order to carry out our BCBP mission and vision in the area. The many different challenges we have so far faced in our evangelization efforts have paved the way for our chapter to continuously develop innovative ways to overcome various challenges,” he said.
The anniversary theme was “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” (from Philippians 4:13). According to Bro. Edgar, it was very appropriate and relevant for this occasion.
“I have observed our members’ willingness to make sacrifices to achieve goals. They show their all-out support to the chapter, the regional, and national directions. And they express their true commitment and dedication in doing their respective tasks and services. All these positive attitudes, combined with unwavering faith and trust in God, have helped Calamba West Chapter achieve all its goals and objectives. To God be all the glory,” Bro. Edgar said.
The Calamba West anniversary also included the annual re-grouping of members to further strengthen the chapter’s organizational structure, and to make it ready to face upcoming new challenges ahead..
