In his acceptance speech, he said “I would like to thank my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ” before bursting into tears yet again.
Bubba won by a miracle shot, on the 10th hole using just a gap wedge to fire a hook shot that landed 140 feet finally onto the green for that winning putt. The shot was so impossible that the aerial view of the shot shape almost looked like a fish hook. Impossible because he made the green from the pine straw where he couldn’t see pin. Impossible because the tree canopy forced him to make a shot such that it rose only 15 feet above the ground avoiding the branches and only then did it start rising.
Luke 1:37 comes into mind. “For nothing is impossible with God.”

You couldn’t miss Bubba on that day. He was the guy in all-white, with the completely buttoned-up shirt and with Pink shafted driver. The pink driver was to raise awareness for his charities. He is as compassionate as he is victorious! The man made sure that he was to be known as a Christian first, and a golfer second.
We, Makati Golfers, call ourselves, as you already know, CIGA – or Christians in Golf Association. Very few locals know the details of just how strong a Christian man Bubba is that’s why this article is written. Perhaps Bubba Watson is the role model CIGA has been waiting for?
But we have indeed made humble Christian efforts on our own accord. Our golf association, of barely twenty members, has since two years ago, raised funds for various BCBP Makati projects; the latest of which was our major participation in the BCBP NAC32 Golf tournament last January. It can now be realistically said that in own humble way, we are indeed striving to fulfill our role as golfer/evangelizers. We have now amongst our ranks, new golfers – brothers who decided to finish recent BCLP’s. Bros John San Juan, Joey Ortega, Ferdie Inacay, Ruel and Sis Liberty de Castro to name a few. God willing, we will be able to evangelize more golfers in our future games.
Have I told you yet Bubba won the Masters on 8th April? Check your calendar – Yes, that’s Easter Sunday! His Tweet after this victory “To God Be the Glory!!! #Masters
