To be a STAR is both the operative word and acronym of our four basic and visible expression of commitment as member of the BCBP namely Service, Tithing, Attendance and Recruitment – as embodied in our commitment card.
As conceived by Metro Manila area governance, the first STAR summit was held last May 13, Saturday at Club Filipino, Greenhills, with two-fold objectives, namely, to institutionalize STAR in BCBP Metro Manila and more importantly to foster closer and stronger relationships among MM current chapter heads and senior leaders. All sixteen (16) chapter heads of North and South MM including regional coordinators and RCDs actively participated.
Facilitated by veteran trainors, Hermy Rodil, Las Pinas Teaching Ministry Head, and Rudy Menguita, Rizal Chapter Head, the resource speakers were no less than Chairman Roy Calleja, Pres Joey Avellana and NSC Formation Joffe Almoro. Existing star and mission/outreach development templates with key indicators were updated using new scorecards applicable to MM conditions.
Keeping the conduct of the sessions highly interactive, the group brainstormed reasons and causes of failure in key result areas, strategized and came up with initiatives to achieve the goals and targets of STAR, mission development and pastoral plans per chapter by SEPT 2017, subject to a quarterly review as an input by Pres Joey.
Outputs of the workshop will consist of chapter STAR strategic plans, mission/outreach roadmaps, and individual pastoral plans by end of May and mid June 2017 respectively.
