The NAC32, 32nd National Anniversary Celebration of the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia, Pasay, Metro Manila, opened April 13, Friday pm, with a conch shell trumpeting the arrival of the m/v KAPATIRAN life-size boat carried onto the stage by the members of the BOT and ManCom. The NAC’s theme “Go … I am with you”, highlighting the BCBP’s evangelization thrust in the marketplace, was echoed throughout the weekend in all the events from Friday’s worship assembly, Fr. Herb Schneider’s message, to Saturday’s Grand Breakfast sharings, the afternoon’s Eucharistic celebration and inspired homily by His Excellency Bishop Jesse Mercado, and even during the dinner and program that evening. Participants were exhorted to carry their enthusiasm and evangelistic spirit back to their respective chapters and “GO!”, expand their horizons and frontiers to creatively and persistently bring Christ into the marketplace and bring the marketplace to Christ.
The breakfast testimonies of three BCBP “marketplace evangelists” during Saturday morning’s Grand Breakfast gave a sense of urgency and resolve to carry out the BCBP’s mission. Ed Lising of BCBP Cebu representing the Visayas Regions told of his initial reluctance to join the mission team to Mindanao but that when he said “yes” to the Lord, so many chapters and outreaches in both the Visayas and Mindanao were established. Rudy Flores, BCBP Makati representing Luzon Regions, related his experiences in evangelizing Legazpi, and compared himself to Jonah who at first ran from the Lord, but ended up doing His work. Dito dela Cerna, BCBP Southern California, formerly of Cagayan de Oro, Mindanao, emphasized that when you say “yes” to the Lord, the Lord will make a way for you, no matter how impossible it may seem.
The NAC32 Music Ministry reinforced the Lord’s message with their empowered renditions of BCBP songs, especially the theme song “Go, I am With You”, the signature song of NAC32. Composed of 90 participants from the six chapters of host region Metro Manila South, the music ministry under the leadership of Weng and Boots Carballo, BCBP Las Pinas, provided every gathering with a variety of songs – anthems, worship and praise songs, gathering and fun songs, plus community fellowship songs, all of which were the product of their six months of weekly practice for the NAC32.
One of the many highlights of the weekend was the raffle draw of the BCBP KAPATIRAN and its announcement of the intensification of the community’s media and website presence through the official BCBP website and FaceBook under the new name of BCBP KAPATIRAN. The Online Contest Raffle Winners, 32 in all, were announced during the Saturday evening program with Novemer T. Tabasa of BCBP Dipolog winning the Grand Prize, an Apple IPAD HD (newly launched in the USA and hand-carried to NAC32 by the SoCal delegation). The complete list of winners is in an accompanying news report on this website.
The Grand Raffle winners were also announced: the winning ticket of the Toyota Vios was sold by the Makati chapter, while the winning ticket of the Toyota Innova was sold by the Paranaque chapter.
The celebration concluded late Saturday evening after an exciting program of songs, dancing, laughter and fellowship with the announcement by President Manny that NAC33 will be hosted by BCBP Iloilo and the Panay Region on April 12-13, 2013. Panay RCD Doy Andrada accepted the challenge and promised the BCBP members that NAC33 would be full of fun and surprises!
3,927 BCBP members attended the anniversary celebration plus 92 guests, reported the Registration Committee during the post-NAC32 evaluation dinner/meeting on Thursday, April 19. During the thanksgiving get-together and meeting BCBP President Manny Jimenez expressed his elation and gratitude to the host region, South Metro Manila, and the NAC32 chairman Jun Obra and his team for a job very well done. Jun Obra, in turn, thanked his Cluster Heads, Etchin Sumagang – Cluster A, Topy Vasquez – Cluster B, and Jojo Pascual – Cluster C, for their unstinting support and all-out work ethics to get things done on time and excellently. During the dinner meeting, each committee head recounted his/her experiences, briefly citing their learnings, joys, and challenges handled. All were one in profusely thanking God for His help in every step of the way. The team also acknowledged the generous encouragement and support of Tatang Louie Morales, BCBP Alabang, and Joey Avellana, BCBP Makati. Special acknowledgement went to Billy Gualberto for his efforts in successfully steering the Ways and Means Committee in raising funds for the celebration.
An e-letter addressed to BCBP brothers and sisters from President Manny reiterated his gratitude and thanks to everyone who helped plan and organize the NAC32 as well as all the participants who enthusiastically embraced the spirit of the Lord during the assembly worship, Holy Mass, and other weekend events. We reprint his letter:
Brothers and Sisters,
CHRIST IS RISEN, ALLELUIA!
Our Lenten observance is complete, as our community reflected on the Passion and Death of Our Lord, and joined the Christian faithful in the glorious celebration of His Resurrection.
For us, it was an extended celebration as we gathered ore than 4,000-strong, at the SMX Convention Center in Metro Manila last weekend to celebrate the 32nd National Anniversary of the BCBP, Thank You Lord!
With this year’s theme to accompany us throughout the anniversary celebration- from welcome banners, from songs to praise and worship, from the inspiring message of Fr. Herb Schneider, from the joyful anniversary breakfast and spirited testimonies of our sharers, and from the homily of His Excellency Bishop Jesse Mercado to the enjoyable program and entertainment of Saturday evening, we pray that Jesus’ own words “GO! I AM WITH YOU!” will inspire the hearts and minds of all those who attended the event.
I take this opportunity to thank the team of NAC32, headed by AMD Jun Obra, who lead the six South Manila Chapters composed of Alabang, Makati, Manila, Las Piñas, Parañaque and Pasay, for turning this event into a truly memorable anniversary celebration. Thank you all for joining us in celebrating God’s goodness.
As one community, renewed and refreshed in the peace and joy of the Lord, let us now put all our efforts together. Trusting in the Lord’s assurance, we set sail on board the MV Kapatiran, casting our nets in the Marketplace to catch bountiful harvests in the Mighty Name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Mabuhay ang BCBP! See you at the 33rd NAC in Iloilo next year!
Manny and Reggie Jimenez
