Discussion Starters:

1. Share with the others about the powers of prayer you have experienced.

2. In order to experience prayer power, we must do certain things. Discuss the conditions given in the above Scripture selections and in the following table. Add others you may feel are important for effective prayer.

3. When we pray “effectively”, what powers will be ours? How should we use these powers?

4. Remember the times that you have experienced the power of prayer. How did you feel at that time? What was God telling/showing you?

5. The celebration of Holy Mass is a most powerful prayer. What gives this prayer its glorious powers? Why, then, should we make a habit of attending mass as often as possible, not just on Sundays?

5. Are long or short prayers more effective for you? Why?

Abide in Him — John 15:7

A repentant heart — Psalm 51
