praise God

Praise is a powerful weapon to break down walls, open closed doors, and win battles as we fight to extend God’s kingdom in the marketplace. The psalms are filled with praise as are most of the liturgical canticles recited in daily prayers. Why should we praise God? Praising God blesses us by focusing our eyes on His greatness. It transforms our perspective on life’s difficulties.

God is worthy of praise:
Isaiah 51:13.
1 Chron. 29:11.
Psalm 148:3.
Luke 19:40.
Psalm 103.

Praise deepens our intimacy with God: praise lift up hearts
Psalm 22:3.
2 Chron. 5:13-14.
Psalm 63:2-5.

Praise is a weapon in spiritual warfare:
2 Chron. 20:6 ff.
Acts 16:25 ff.

It tempers our disappointments:
Habakkuk 3:17-18.
Psalm 42:11.
2 Samuel 12:20.
Job 1:21.

We are created to praise God:
Ephesians 1:12.
Psalm 34:1.
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

Bible Sharing

Read through your favorite psalms plus Psalms 96, 148 and 150. Then reflect and share on the following questions:

• WHO is exhorted to praise God?
• WHAT is the value of praise?
• WHERE are we to praise God?
• WHEN should we praise God?
• WHY is God so praise-worthy?
• HOW can we praise God?

What is at least one way through which you can add more praise to your life in the coming days?
