This morning as well as the past several mornings have not very good mornings for me … too many things on my plate to do today and tomorrow and all the tomorrows to come, strained relationships that need to be healed, business situations that need to be addressed … need I continue?
But then as I opened my prayer journal, a piece of paper, actually a clipping from somewhere, fell into my lap. The Lord spoke to me this morning through this clipping. I would like to share it with all of you, with the prayer that He will speak to you, too.
Wake Up, Count Your Blessings!
I have a friend who is convinced that our greatest gift is “waking up,” and I mean that literally. The gift of opening our eyes in the morning presents us with the opportunity of doing something with our lives. Yesterday is gone and we can do nothing about it and tomorrow we have no control over, but by waking up we have the present moment to make the necessary changes in our lives which can dramatically impact the lives of others. There is no doubt that we are blessed because we simply WAKE UP!
Here are some other blessings we should be aware of:
If you woke up this morning with more health than illness … you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.
If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation … you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.
If you have money in the bank, in your wallet, and spare change in a dish some place … you are among the top 8% of the world’s wealthy.
If your parents are still alive and still married … you are very rare.
If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful … you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.
If you prayed yesterday and today … you are in the minority because you believe God does hear and answer prayers.
If you can read this now, you are more blessed than over 2 million people in the world that cannot read at all.
