Heavy rains and traffic did not stop the July 7 Praise Jam Concert for a Cause of the BCBP Cebu East Chapter.
The concert entitled “Yes, Lord!” was a one-night-only praise and worship extravaganza at the USPF Theater in Lahug, Cebu City.
It was the first-ever praise concert for the community and it was organized to achieve two things: First was to generate funds to enable the Chapter to extend help to those in need, especially victims of calamities. And second was to bring to one venue as many worshippers of Christ to glorify and magnify His majesty and Lordship and make a stand for the faith, the Catholic Church, and God.
The concert’s repertoire was divided into three parts. The first part was Worship and Praise, while the second basically egged the audience to rest in the presence of the Lord. The final part was evangelization. The concert’s last song was a declaration that “Yes Lord, we will keep the faith, fight the good fight, and win the marketplace for You.”
The praise and worship concert was rendered by a complete band, singers, dancers, a ballet dancer and two worship leaders. These devoted talents from the BCBP Cebu East Band and invited performers from BCBP Cebu Central all said “Yes, Lord!” to a 5-month preparation amidst their busy work schedule.
Notwithstanding the technical glitches during the opening of the concert, the evening went on to give the audience a Spirit-filled worship session. The audience — a good mixture of family, friends, and BCBP members from the Central Cebu Region and Cebu Area — was brought to its feet in singing and jubilant praise.
After a full one-and-a-half hour, the concert ended with the audience’s exultant singing of “Yes, Lord!”(Trading My Sorrows) – all immersed in the concert’s invitation for everyone to victoriously trade each one’s challenges and difficulties for the joy of the Lord.
