Bulacan East Chapter (BEC), the youngest BCBP Chapter in the Philippines which had barely a month from its installation held on February 15, 2020 when quarantine protocols were declared in the entire Luzon and other places of the country because of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Barely a month into quarantine period, the Chapter through Programs and Services Directorate (PSD) headed by Bro. Abet and Sis. Marivi Santiago took the initiative upon the encouragement of Chapter Head Bro. Edgar and Sis. Yeng Leonida. Challenges to the finances of the households of the members aside, the donation drive “BCBP-BEC Cares and Shares” accumulated significant amount on top of several food items which were converted into hundreds of food packs, snacks and milk formula which were donated to frontliners (health personnel, checkpoint personnel, garbage collectors) and children (one to three years’ old), respectively.

The intended beneficiaries of the donation drive are some select LGUs in the contiguous areas covering the jurisdiction of the Chapter, namely, the towns of Balagtas, Bocaue, Marilao, Pandi, Bulakan, Sta. Maria and the City of Meycauayan. Specific LGUs were chosen on the basis of where some members of the Governance Team reside so that easier distribution of said donations with proper safety measures will attain its intended goal of reaching out to select community frontliners and needy family households. Moreover, the community generously extended substantial financial aid to ten selected members of the community throughout these trying times. Through these acts, BEC concretely show its charity to one another, and it shows that members will always promptly come to the aid of their needy fellowmen and their brothers and sisters. It exemplifies BEC’s undying commitment to care and share, prompted by the commandment of Jesus Christ to love and serve one another.
