Pursuant to the Memo of Understanding between the Bishops-Businessmen’s Conference, BBC, and the Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals, BCBP, an initial meeting was convened by Mr. Danilo Sanchez of the Diocese of Kalookan on August 14, 2009, to discuss the organization of a BBC Chapter in the Diocese. Mr. Ting Paterno of the BBC presided over the meeting. BCBP Camanava leaders Andrew Ignacio, Mercurio Elenzano and Roderick Cobankiat attended the meeting, enthusiastically supporting the BBC-BCBP tie-up initiatives.
The April 2009 MOU’s guidelines envision that the BCBP through its members and business groups will assist the BBC in training interested parishes in Pastoral Management, in extending technical assistance when needed, and in promoting high standards of social justice. The BBC, in turn, will work closely with the BCBP for the effective and successful implementation of BCBP’s own social action programs. Underlying these guidelines is the belief that the modern Filipino manager must become a strategist for social development by making the common interest of the whole community his own self-interest.
