NSC for Formation Bro. Roy Calleja
Formation is defined as the internal evangelization of the BCBP Community through its network of Chapters whose primary function is to provide a continuing formation and growth process of the Chapter membership that will lead them to conversion, commitment and being commissioned to service in the community. It is through the Formation programs that the growth of members upon completion of the BCLP, Brotherhood Christian Life Program, is sustained. Member growth is measured in terms of his/her attendance and participation in all BCBP activities, faithful tithing, and service and evangelization commitments.
This Directorate is responsible for the proper conduct and program development of Leadership Formation, Assemblies, the Brotherhood Christian Marriage Retreat (BCMR) and other family-related programs, the Brotherhood Christian Business Retreat (BCBR), and Action Group meetings together with the topics to be taken up in these meetings, as well as all other activities that contribute to the formation and growth of the members.
The goals of the Formation Directorate are four-fold, to ensure: firstly, that all BCBP members are securely rooted in their relationship with Jesus Christ; secondly, that all Formation programs and teachings shall, either directly or indirectly, focus on strengthening member commitment to the BCBP’s Vision and Mission; thirdly, that in all formation programs and activities emphasis will be placed on building and nourishing a culture of discipleship among members, with this discipleship being lived out in the member’s daily lives; and, fourthly, that leadership development at all levels shall be sustained so that the BCBP community will have a strong, committed, and capable leadership that is anchored on stewardship and discipleship. Teachings of the Catholic Church such as the Nicene Creed (summary of Scriptures), Faith Practices (Sacraments, Faith, Prayer, Worship), and the Commandments are included in each chapter’s formation schedules.
Each chapter has its own Formation Team, composed of the Chapter Formation Director, Teaching and Training Head, Course Leaders, Intercessory Ministry Head, Music Ministry Head, Liturgical Ministry Head and Assembly Ministry Head. The Team is under the authority of the Chapter Head, who in turn is under the direction of his RCD, Regional Council Director. The National Service Coordinator for Formation supports the RCDs and Chapter Heads in the Community Formation Process by ensuring that proper ways and means, technical know-how and additional support are in place to achieve the desired Formation objectives.
