About two hundred national leaders of Brotherhood of Christian Businessmen and Professionals (members of the Board of Trustees and Management Committee, Area Managing Directors, Regional Council Directors, and Chapter Heads), attended the annual National Leaders Retreat last October 4-6, 2013 in the Carmelite Missionaries Center of Spirituality, Tagaytay City. It was conducted by our Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Herb Schneider, SJ.
The theme of the retreat this year was “Love The Word, Learn the Word, and Live the Word” by Rick Warren, Senior Pastor of Saddleback Church and author of the famous book, The Purpose Driven Life. The retreat was about the Five Methods of Bible Meditation and the Basic Principles of Bible Interpretation. The whole program is called “40 Days in Word” which is a journey to help the participants love, learn, and live the Word of God like they never did before. A workbook and video series were provided to facilitate the learning process. They explained the basic purpose of God’s Word which is not just to inform us but to transform us.
The program offers practical methods to study and learn the bible and it gives us an opportunity to deepen our prayer life through scripture reading. It will teach us;
- The six easy-to-learn methods for reading and meditating on Scripture
- Proven techniques for a meaningful quiet time with God
- How to memorize scripture
- Sound principles for accurate Bible interpretation
- A step-by-step process for applying God’s Word in our lives
All chapters are encouraged to re-echo this study “40 Days….” as soon as possible to their members. BCBP Cebu Central recommends to use this teaching during the 40 days of Lent 2014.
