RECEIVING THE POWER TO SERVE

serving others thrus graceIn the Visioning Workshop of the Naga City Chapter, held on the last quarter of last year, it was agreed that the Chapter will conduct two (2) BCLPs this year. One here in Naga City and the other, in our mission at Goa, Camarines Sur. In between the BCLPs, formation programs and workshops will be conducted. This is over and above the regular Breakfast Meetings, prayer assemblies, teaching nights, AGMs and other activities. This is like, “habang nagpapahinga, maglinis nang bahay.” Wow!

Our members have realized that every month, all their Saturday mornings are for breakfast meetings, two for Naga and two for Goa, Camarines Sur. They have to rearrange their First Friday evenings to give way for the teaching. There is still the Third Friday assembly and for the Music Ministry and Intercessory Ministry members, the every Thursday evening practice and intercessory prayers respectively. Practically, with the on going BCLP, Saturday mornings and Sunday afternoons are reserved for BCBP activities.

These activities have called each and every member of the brotherhood to share and contribute his or her talent, treasure and time. The irony lies in the fact that “tayo na ang naabala, and yet still, tayo pa rin ang magbibigay nang lahat na kailangan. Double wow!

Did I hear anyone complain? None! Triple wow!

Jesus, in His earthly ministry, by his example, taught us that Christian love is committed service. Thus, our love for God should be manifested in extending our hands and serving our brothers and sisters. By doing this, each of us becomes God’s hands in reaching out to others.

Are we ready to reach out to others? Are we all prepared to provide service to those in need? The answer is a big resounding YES. God, before He asked us to serve, equipped and prepared us first. “There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit distributes them. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but in all of them and in everyone it is the same God at work” (1 Cor. 12:4-6).

How do we serve? We serve according to the gift or gifts given to us. “Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good” (1 Cor. 12:7). These are the gifts of wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miraculous power, prophecy, distinguishing spirits, tongue and interpretation of the tongue. “All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he distributes them to each one, just as he determines” (1 Cor. 12:11).

Each of these gifts has been given to different members of the BCBP. Meaning, each BCBP Chapter or Outreach has a collection of members who possess these gifts. Due to this, each BCBP member and each BCBP Chapter or Outreach is ready to “Bring Christ into the marketplace and win the marketplace for Christ.”

Let us pray for each other, for discernment, so that one and all are in one common direction, in serving the Lord. Let us pray for each other, for commitment and for strength, in reaching out for others, so that each will not lose direction, for to serve is to be like Jesus.
